Depression and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience. They often arise as a result of harmful internal beliefs, or some factor in our lives not matching up with who we truly are inside. Through counseling, I use fun and creative strategies to help you identify the root of the problem, get to know yourself, and bring your life closer in line to the YOU that was there the day you were born! If we can't change the cause of the discord, we will work to address your responses to stressors to build healthy coping habits.
In group sessions, you will gain validation from the experiences of others, get answers to questions you didn't know you had, and learn the skills you need to feel grounded while managing difficult situations and relationships. Click HERE for current groups.
Being human is hard, and being a developing human can be especially hard. Kids and teens with extra big feelings, oppositional behavior, ADHD, gender issues and low self-esteem can leave their parents feeling helpless. As an outside ally, I align myself with your child, help identify their unmet needs, teach them skills to cope with their challenges, and support them to develop their sense of self in a manner that promotes healing and adaptability.
While I see a lot of young people, I also do 1:1 work with many parents. Often if our child is struggling, we are too. Getting the right support for yourself can only serve to enhance your child's well-being.
Our society does not leave room for us to grieve on our own timeline. I am here to bear witness to your story, assist you to process and identify your feelings, and support the natural process of healthy grief and healing. Many of us feel the pressure to "hurry up" with our grieving. We may feel bad for "burdening" our friends and family, and need support as we walk the line between grief and clinical depression.
